NOW OFFERING
SECOND BIVALENT COVID-19 BOOSTER
All boosters provided at My Dr's Pharmacy will be the new bivalent vaccine formulation.
The CDC has made changes to the COVID-19 vaccine recommendations following FDA regulatory action.
These changes allow for more flexibility and additional protection for people at higher risk. The changes include:
-
An additional (second) updated bivalent vaccine dose for adults ages 65 years and older and people who are immunocompromised.
-
CDC recommend that everyone ages 6 years and older receive a bivalent mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, regardless of whether they previously completed their (monovalent) primary series.
-
Individuals ages 6 years and older who have already received an updated mRNA vaccine do not need to take any action unless they are 65 years or older or immunocompromised.
-
For young children, multiple doses continue to be recommended and will vary by age, vaccine, and which vaccines were previously received. Please consult with our nurses if you have any questions
-
Alternatives to mRNA COVID-19 vaccines remain available for people who cannot or will not receive an mRNA vaccine, such as Novavax.
Who is eligible to receive the second bivalent COVID-19 Vaccine?
-
Individuals aged 65+ : can get a booster bivalent COVID-19 vaccine at least four months after the initial dose.
-
Immunocompromised individuals: can get a booster bivalent COVID-19 vaccine at least two months after the initial dose.
WHAT IS NOVAVAX VACCINE AND
WHO QUALIFIES TO RECEIVE IT?
Novavax is a protein-based vaccine that does not contain messenger RNA like the vaccines offered by Moderna and Pfizer. It uses the more classic technologies used in conventional vaccines, such as the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) and Polio vaccines.
Eligibility: individuals 18+, who have not received the Moderna, J&J or Pfizer vaccine are eligible to receive Novavax.
