NEW BIVALENT COVID-19 VACCINE
All boosters provided at My Dr's Pharmacy will be the new bivalent vaccine formulation.
The FDA and CDC recently approved new “bivalent” COVID vaccine formulations manufactured by Moderna and Pfizer. The authorized bivalent COVID-19 vaccines, or updated boosters, include an mRNA component of the original strain and an mRNA component of the Omicron variant (BA.4 and BA.5 lineages).
The BA.4 and BA.5 lineages of the Omicron variant are currently causing most cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. and are predicted to circulate this fall and winter. In June, the agency’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee voted overwhelmingly to include an omicron component in COVID-19 booster vaccines.
Who is eligible to receive the bivalent COVID-19 Vaccine?
-
Moderna: Individuals 18 years of age or older if it has been at least two months since they have completed primary vaccination or have received the most recent booster dose with any authorized or approved monovalent COVID-19 vaccine.
-
Pfizer: Individuals 12 years of age or older if it has been at least two months since they have completed primary vaccination or have received the most recent booster dose with any authorized or approved monovalent COVID-19 vaccine.
WHAT IS NOVAVAX VACCINE AND
WHO QUALIFIES TO RECEIVE IT?
Novavax is a protein-based vaccine that does not contain messenger RNA like the vaccines offered by Moderna and Pfizer. It uses the more classic technologies used in conventional vaccines, such as the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) and Polio vaccines.
Eligibility: individuals 18+, who have not received the Moderna, J&J or Pfizer vaccine are eligible to receive Novavax.
